Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII)
ACICIS students will be part of the International Program and will attend classes primarily at the Faculty of Economics, which has its own campus in Condongcatur, Yogjakarta. The Faculty is easily accessible by public transport and all other important services and facilities are close by. In the surrounding area there is affordable, quality student accommodation and a variety of cheap eating-places. Islamic values and customs shape the daily lives of the majority of students studying at the Faculty of Economics, however, the atmosphere is very open and welcoming to people from all countries, cultures and religions. UII itself does not prescribe to one particular kind of Islam, nor does it associate itself with one branch of the acknowledged Islamic movements in Indonesia, but rather is pluralistic in its approach to the study and practice of Islam. UII students are always excited to have open informal and formal discussions with new people with different life experiences and both teaching staff and students come from a diverse range of cultural and academic backgrounds. The intellectual atmosphere, while significantly influenced by Islam, can be described as modern and liberal. This diversity of opinion helps to ensure rigorous academic discussion and lively debate. The Buddy ProgramAs part of the UII 'Buddy' program, ACICIS students are matched with an UII student who will assist them to understand the Indonesian university environment. Subjects available each semesterThe Islamic Studies program offers a range of subjects from the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of International Language and Cultural Study. Students are required to take 12-15 SKS (credit points) per semester.
