Facilities
The International Program (IP) in the Faculty of Economics (FE-UII)
is committed to providing a quality learning environment for its
students and academic staff. This includes providing the following
facilities:
Executive classrooms
All classrooms are equipped with modern facilities including a computer
with internet access, LCD projector and Over Head Projector.
Internet
and electronic journal access
The IP provides a special computer lab with free internet access
to its students. This internet access is accessible 15 hours a day.
Its opening hours are 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. IP management also provides
students with quick on line access to the Pro Quest journal.
Modern library providing various data in business and economics
The Economics faculty library has an impressive collection of thousands
of books. This includes 9,697 book titles in the Indonesian language
and 2,353 book titles in the English language. The FE-UII library
is equipped with a computer based electronic catalogue which provides
easy access when searching for books or references required by students.
This library has two sections: the loan section and the reserve
reference section.
Computer and statistics laboratory
A great deal of teaching and education activities require extensive
use of computing facilities. The FE-UII provides a computer centre
to support this activity. There are three modern computer laboratories
including an accounting laboratory, statistics laboratory and laboratory
for general computer use. The FE-UII maintains its own Local Area
Network (LAN), and is constantly upgrading and developing its computer
and statistic laboratory facilities with the most modern and advanced
technology.
Telecommunication Stall
FE-UII provides an on-campus telecommunication facility for its
students. This facility is located in FE-UII building. It is a commercial
business which provides services such as telephone, fax and postal
facilities. It is open 24 hours a day.
Campus bank
To facilitate easy banking services for students the FE-UII has
on campus banking facilities for Bukopin, Mandiri Bank and BNI.
There is an on-campus ATM facility that is linked to the Cirrus
network.
Jakarta Stock Exchange Corner
Located in the Faculty main building is a Stock Exchange Corner. It provides
access to information about all publicly listed companies in Indonesia and this
is linked directly (on line real time) to the Jakarta Stock Exchange. This corner
also provides advice and consultation regarding investment and any other up
date information that may be required by students in their research.
Kopma (Students Cooperative)
This business center is run by a FE-UII students cooperative and sells those
products often needed by students such as books, pen, papers, stickers, T-shirt,
snacks and beverages. There is a Photocopy center located at the Kopma which
provides a cheap photocopying service for students.
Canteen
There is a comfortable student canteen on campus that offers a wide variety
of foods and beverages at reasonable prices. It is open Monday until Saturday
from 08.00 a.m. to 02.00 p.m.
Insurance for students
Since December 2004, the International Program management has provided
basic health and public liability insurance for International Program
students (provided by the Takaful insurance company - a national
insurance company). Further information can be provided on request.
Recreation and lifestyle
Merpati Putih (Savate)
Merpati Putih, or MP for short, is the Indonesian Royal system of
Pencak Silat. Pencak Silat is a general term for the Indonesian
Martial Arts (like Kung Fu-for Chinese Arts or Karate for Japanese
arts). There are over 700 unique styles of Pencak Silat native to
Indonesia & Malaysia. Merpati Putih is different to other Martial
Arts that you have seen ANYWHERE else in the world. What makes MP
special is the unique ability to Develop, Harness, and Control Massive
Amounts of Tenaga Dalam or Inner Power -(also called Chi, Ki, Prana,
Subtle Energy, or Bio Energy). Using a very specific and patented
series of body postures & breathing techniques, Merpati Putih is
truly one of the world's rarities.
AA Boxer (Tarung Derajat)
It means "Derajat Fighting", which is one of the local martial arts
and the only full body contact sport in Indonesia. This Club was
establish in Bandung and has now become one of the sports played
in the Sea Games. This sport has also spread abroad. One of the
countries that already runs these programs is the Netherlands. AA
Boxer already has a routine tournament at a regional and national
level.
Economics Faculty Basketball Community
This community organises many activities outside of their regular
training program. The faculty Economics team has many achievements.
For the last two inter Java-Bali competitions the team been in the
top five teams of the competition.
Interpro FC (International Program Soccer Team)
The International Program Soccer team was established in 1999. Its
aim is to provide a chance for the International program Students
who loves Soccer to get involved in the sport. Besides routine training
Interpro FC also have a routine schedule for sparring partners.
MAPALA Unisi (an environmental organization)
MAPALA Unisi was established in 1974. It currently participates
in forest and mountain expeditions, caving, rafting, wall climbing,
environmental preservation and search and rescue (SAR). The wall
climbing division has received both national and international recognition,
earning 4th position in Thailand for the women's competition in
2001 and achieved second position in Malaysia in 2002. Every years
MAPALA Unisi is open to recieve new members.
Cultural
Teater Koin (Students Theater Community)
Teater Koin is a unique theater society where students can fulfill
their motivation in arts especially in drama and theater. Here,
they train and express their special ability in reading poetry,
acting and singing. All students are welcome to join Teater Koin,
and they use to have a performance every two month performing stories,
plays and other cultural art forms from the cultural works of Indonesia
and other countries.
UII Marching Band
The UII Marching band was established in the 1950s as the UII drum
band. In the last 10 years the club has won at least 15 national
competitions. The UII Marching Band has also received several sponsorships
from private companies. All students can join this club.
Clubs and organisations
DPM (Students' Consultative Assembly) & LEM (Students' Executive
Board)
This is the students' board and a place where students can learn
to manage their own organizations and activities. The board provides
a chance for students to express themselves in activities ranging
from academic to arts activities.
HIMMAH (University Students' Press Organization)
This is a students press organization, which was established in
1967 under the name Muhibah, Himmah. It received the ISAI awards
in 1996 for the best alternative press in Indonesia. This is the
Place where Students, can involve themselves in developing skills
in writing news in a nationwide distributed newspaper that is published
every four months.
Ekonomika
Ekonomika is a student newspaper organization. It publishes actual
news in the economics faculty. The organization that produces "ekonomika"
newspaper, involves economics student from all departments. They
write about all the activities and events that take place on campus
and publish the newspaper monthly. Here in ekonomika, we could develop
our skills in writing and socialize our events in a unique language
of our own. Another advantage of joining ekonomika, is that we have
the opportunity to get journalistic training from some of the alumni
of ekonomika, who have graduated from study and now work in several
national newspapers.
IPF (International Program Forum)
IPF was establishing in 1996 as one of the students forum that facilitate
IP Students aspiration. IPF has several regular events every year
that involve IP students. Seminars and music have been some of the
regular event held by IPF. This is one of the places where students
can express their ideas.
EDS (English Debate Society)
EDS is an intra-campus debate society. It focuses on developing
students' analytical skills, listening and speaking in English.
The EDS of the International Program, Economics Faculty, Universitas
Islam Indonesia is a well-known debating society. EDS is regularly
involved in English debate tournaments at both a national and international
level. EDS are ranked in the national top ten best debating societies
in Indonesia. Training usually takes place three times a week and
national tournaments have become a regular forum for EDS to participate
in .
SRC (Student Research Club)
The SRC is a sub organization of the Center for Marketing Studies
(CMS). It was established to support the CMS in providing a research
database for the research that is carried out by the CMS. Most of
the SRC members are marketing students who are currently studying
research methods and developing their own thesis project. The SRC
is supported by a large journal Database www.proquest.com.
This on-line dtatbase is available to all faculty staff and students.
KSPM (Students Stock Exchange Club)
KSPM is a place for students that are wanting to get involved in
stock exchange simulation. It is a club for studying and simulating
a virtual stock exchange. KSPM are supported by a stock exchange
laboratory that is link to the stock exchange markets in Jakarta
(Jakarta Stock Exchange) and Surabaya (Surabaya Stock Exchange).
MC, KOMISI, and FM EP (Management, Accounting, and Economics
students community)
These student communities are a part of independent students community
independent of the Students' Executive Board. Their activity focuses
on each department's student events, for example: Students Inauguration
Night, Music Event and Bazaar event. The advantage in joining these
community is that students can learn about and practice teamwork,
apply management skills, and increasing their work experiences.
We also get to know lots of other students and meet new people.
KOPMA (Students Cooperative)
Kopma, or in English, students cooperative, is a student organization
whose daily activities focus on things that help students in fulfilling
their daily needs. Kopma are the place to practically applying students'
management knowledge especially cooperative management. Kopma provides
its member with a profit sharing arrangement. The profit sharing
comes from the Kopma's commercial activity which include selling
those things students students need such as snacks, books, and a
copy center.
