All of the applications are of a very high quality, and ACICIS is very pleased that the JPP continues to attract such interest. Applicants are:

  •  66% female

The Asia NZ Foundation http://www.asianz.org.nz/ has once again offered scholarships – 4 to AUT and 2 to Canterbury. The Pacific Media Centre (AUT) www.pmc.aut.ac.nz also continues to strongly support the JPP.

 Selection of Participants

For JPP 2009 the intake of students will be 25 students, the same as last year. This maximum number is set because the number of English language places for interns in Jakarta is limited. We will have a reserve list in case some selected applicants drop out.

ACICIS will choose participants on a number of criteria including: academic record, industry experience, life experience, the student's flexibility in choice of placement, the general quality and order of receipt of the student's application. These criteria have long been stated on the ACICIS website.

The selection panel which will choose the applicants that will be selected on the JPP 2009 will be:

 Timeline for applications

10 September – applications sent to the selection panel.

17 September – Louise Williams to Jakarta to liaise with stakeholders, selection panel read applications.

1 October – Louise Williams return to Sydney, by which time placements for JPP 2009 will be much clearer.

10 October – Selection committee will have met before this date. It is hoped that all successful applicants will be informed of their acceptance into the program by this date.
